An electric typewriter was introduced in 1924 by North East Electric Co. The company was bought by IBM in 1933 and the first IBM electric typewriter came onto the market in 1935. The brand name IBM Electric was used from 1946 onwards.

Ideal
Ideal was a front-stroke typewriter patented in USA in 1897. It was manufactured in Dresden, Germany. After the Second World War the factory began producing the Erika typewriter.

Imperial
The Imperial Typewriter Company was the leading British typewriter manufacturer. The first model A was introduced in 1908. This semi-portable typewriter has a three-row curved keyboard. The model A was followed by several models. Model 50 was especially successful and production continued until 1955. Models 50 and 60 were popular in Finland.
