VEB  Schreibmaschinenwerk  Dresden, DDR

After World War II in 1945 two famous prewar German typewriter companies  ”Seidel & Neumann AG” (see Ideal) and “  Clemence Müller AG” were nationalized. In 1951 they were incorporated into a new company “VEB Mechanik Schreibmaschinen-Werk Dresden”.  In the following years the name of the company was changed several times. Groma, Optima and  Erika typewriters as well as computers were produced in the years 1945-1992 mainly in Dresden.
