Precisa was founded in 1935. The first mechanical calculator was introduced in 1942. In 1964 a merger between Precisa AG and the typewriter manufacturer Hermes  SA (see Hermes typewriter) took place. The new company was renamed  Hermes-Precisa International AG. Production of calculators ceased in 1980s.
