American was a small index typewriter. It contained only 35 parts. Patent was granted in 1893. It was reasonable priced and sold well. Serial numbers up to 20 000 are known. Armstrong was a small keyboard underastroke typewriter produced by the same company. The name Armstrong was used in England. Due to a small number of parts, the selling price was low. Both typewriters enjoyed a sales success until 1915.
